What It Is

Collagen is a protein made up of amino acids. It accounts for 30 percent of your body’s protein, providing support for your muscles, bones, connective tissue, and skin. Support the body’s self-repair process for cartilage, tendons, fascia, bones and ligaments with Cooper Complete Collagen Complex Supplement.†

How to Use:

All of the premium collagen peptides in Cooper Complete Collagen Complex are patented and have been selected for the specific benefits they promote. Mix our multi-collagen powder into shakes, smoothies, and other foods (including baked goods) and beverages (including hot coffee and tea).

As a dietary supplement, mix one (1) scoop (8 grams) into 8 ounces of water or the beverage or food of your choice each day or as directed by your health care professional. Each canister contains approximately 30 servings.

How It Helps

Cooper Complete Collagen Complex Supplement is a multi-peptide collagen powder supported by clinical research showing its effectiveness in promoting collagen production, natural healing, joint health and integrity, bone health, and skin elasticity.† FORTIGEL®, TENDAXION®, and MOBILEE® preserve and protect cartilage, ligaments, tendons, fascia, bone, and the intervertebral discs of the spine.† The collagen peptides in Cooper Complete Collagen Complex Supplement are enzymatically hydrolyzed and are the smallest peptides available to support optimal absorption.†

Found in skin and connective tissues, collagen is the most abundant protein in the body. While there are almost 30 types of collagen, nearly 90 percent are either type I or type II collagen. Type I collagen is found within the tendons, ligaments, fascia, skin, bones, organs, heart valves and blood vessels. Type II collagen is found within 70% of the body’s cartilaginous mass, including hyaline, articular cartilage, and intervertebral discs. Over time, age, lifestyle, genetics, inflammation, biomechanical instability, and prior injuries can lead to collagen breakdown and slow the process of healthy collagen synthesis.†

Supports Cartilage, Tendon, Ligament, Fascia and Bone Self-Repair Process†

TENDAXION™ is a combination of type I collagen and mucopolysaccharides, which provides structural support to tendons, ligaments, fascia, skin and bones.† In a three-month study, the participants taking TENDAXION™ had an 81 percent reduction in discomfort after three months. The authors noted that while discomfort was significantly reduced during the first month of supplementation, it took three months to reach the 81 percent reduction. Cooper Complete Collagen Complex Supplement contains 520 mg of TENDAXION™ in each 8-gram (1 scoop) serving.

Supports Normal Rejuvenation of Healthy Hair, Skin and Nails†

Collagen is the primary protein required for firm, smooth, youthful skin. Adults lose approximately one percent of the collagen in their skin annually, contributing to thinning and wrinkling in aging skin. Wrinkles are signs the body may need additional collagen.† Studies suggest collagen peptides may provide a modest improvement (7- to 20 percent) in wrinkles by increasing skin volume, hydration and elasticity.†

MOBILEE®, sourced from rooster comb, is a patented hyaluronic acid extract with the highest hyaluronic acid (HA) concentration for easy absorption. This extract also contains collagen and polysaccharides to aid in hyaluronic acid’s viscoelastic and lubricating properties.† Cooper Complete Collagen Complex Supplement includes 80 mg of MOBILEE® (standardized to contain 40 mg of hyaluronic acid) in each 8-gram (1 scoop) serving.

Healthy Joint Function, Physical Movement and Mobility†

Loss of flexibility and slowed post-exercise recovery are signs the body may need additional collagen, as collagen is a building block for tendons, cartilage and ligaments. A 12-week randomized controlled trial of 180 young adult men and women (ages 18-30) with exercise-related knee pain but no diagnosed joint disease evaluated supplementation of 5 grams daily of FORTIGEL® (bioactive collagen peptides) and found significant reductions in joint pain from exercise.

FORTIGEL® supports the regeneration of joint cartilage.† Optimized specific collagen peptides of Fortigel® have been proven in clinical trials to activate the growth of new cartilage by stimulating cells, helping to ease joint discomfort and make the joints smooth and mobile.

According to published research, FORTIGEL® is absorbed intestinally and accumulates in cartilage†. The ingestion of FORTIGEL® stimulates a statistically significant increase in cartilage tissue metabolism.† Cooper Complete Collagen Complex Supplement contains 5.2 grams of patented Gelatin Hydrolysate (FORTIGEL® per 8-gram (1 scoop) serving.

MOBILEE® is a patented ingredient of hyaluronic acid, polysaccharides and collagen to support muscle and joint health.† Studies show MOBILEE® is two to four times more active than regular hyaluronic acid in supporting synovial fluid health.†

In a 48-week pilot randomized controlled trial of FORTIGEL®, 30 participants with mild knee osteoarthritis received magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of their knee joints at baseline, 24 weeks and 48 weeks, and significant improvements were found.

Potential Gut Health Support†

A small study in 2022 found that collagen supplementation improved digestion in healthy women, including a reduction in bloating and stomach discomfort.† This is a new area of collagen research, so more research is needed to understand the potential benefit of collagen on the gut.

18 Questions
Ask a Question
Q:

Do you have an opinion on when collagen should be taken? I’ve been told by some that it’s most effective when taken just prior to a workout. I’ve been taking it after my daily workout.

A:

According to the scientific literature, there is no best time or suggested time for taking collagen. However, some believe taking collagen supplements on an empty stomach may minimize the potential for competition with other amino acids for absorption.

Q:

I understand collagen supplements can help support my bones. In addition to collagen are there other supplements I should consider for bone health?

A:

Osteoporosis is a major public health issue affecting bone health that is becoming more common in both women and men. Learn more about supplements as part of an overall approach may support your goal of having and maintaining strong bones.†

Q:

Isn’t Type I and Type III collagen a given since it’s in all bovine collagen? Why mention it?

A:

Type I and Type III collagen are present in bovine collagen; however, not all bovine collagen contains type II collagen. Each type of collagen plays a different role in the body. We mention Type III in our article for educational purposes. The patented collagen peptides in the Cooper Complete Collagen complex are Type I and Type II.

Q:

Does Collagen Complex contain biotin?

A:

Biotin is not included in the Collagen Complex. For those that wish to supplement with biotin, there is 75 mcg in our Advanced B Complex, 300 mcg in our Original Multivitamin, and 6000 mcg in our Dermatologic Health formula.

Q:

Are there calories in Cooper Complete Collagen Complex Supplement?

A:

Collagen is a type of protein, and like every other protein, contains calories. Each (8-gram) scoop of collagen has  25 calories and contains 5 grams of protein.

Q:

To more easily combine/mix, should collagen powder be added to a liquid, or should the liquid be added to the collagen powder?

A:

We recommend adding a scoop of Collagen Complex unflavored powdered peptides to your glass first, then adding the liquid and mixing. Collagen can be added to coffee, tea, juice, bottled protein drinks and smoothies. Collagen can also be added to baked goods, casseroles, your morning oatmeal, or pretty much anything else you’re cooking.

Q:

What does hyaluronic acid do in Collagen Complex?

A:

Hyaluronic acid binds with water and supports well-lubricated joints and a firm complexion.† Acting like a sponge, hyaluronic acid pulls in water to quench and plump skin.† Hyaluronic acid also helps preserve bone strength.†

Q:

What is the purpose of the vitamin C in Collagen Complex?

A:

Vitamin C helps shield skin from free radical damage†, and it’s needed for collagen biosynthesis and the formation of new collagen fibers.† In addition, vitamin C supports the immune system, and helps iron absorption.†

Q:

What is the benefit of taking collagen peptides?

A:

After the age of 30, the body’s natural production of collagen slows by up to 1% per year, which may impact joint pain and mobility.† Supplementing with scientifically proven Fortigel® collagen† (the collagen in Cooper Complete) has been shown to support the body’s natural collagen production and may help maintain joint health.†

Q:

Are there any negative effects of taking collagen?

A:

Collagen is generally well-tolerated, and side effects are rare. In some cases, individuals may experience mild digestive discomfort, such as bloating or mild diarrhea. If you experience any unusual symptoms, consult your healthcare provider.†

Q:

What’s the best time of day to take collagen?

A:

Collagen can be taken at any time of day. A small study suggests that taking collagen in the evening may help support relaxation and overall well-being.† Individual experiences may vary, so the best time is whenever it fits your routine.

Q:

How long does it take for collagen to work?

A:

Studies have shown that some individuals may experience benefits from consistent collagen use in as little as 3 weeks, with optimal results typically seen after about 12 weeks.† Results may vary by individual.

Q:

How does collagen help skin?

A:

Collagen plays a key role in supporting skin strength, elasticity and hydration.†

Q:

What foods are rich in collagen?

A:

Collagen can be found in bone broth, specifically beef bone broth, sardines, eggs, and leafy greens.† Citrus fruits may support the body’s natural collagen production†. Cooper Complete Collagen Complex includes 100mg of vitamin C to support this process.†

Q:

What are the side effects of taking a collagen supplement?

A:

Collagen supplements are generally considered safe and well-tolerated for most people. However, some individuals may experience mild side effects, such as:

  • Digestive discomfort (e.g., bloating or feelings of fullness)

  • A lingering aftertaste or slight changes in appetite

  • Increased risk of kidney stones in those prone to oxalate-type stones, as collagen contains amino acids that can convert to oxalates in the body

The Cooper Complete Collagen Complex uses hydrolyzed collagen peptides, which are broken down into smaller units for easy digestion and absorption. This allows for effective support† at a moderate dose.

As always, it’s best to speak with your healthcare provider—especially if you have a history of kidney stones or are on a restricted protein diet.

Q:

I’ve heard the risk of kidney stones increases with collagen supplementation. Is this true?

A:

Collagen is a type of protein, so if you are at high risk for developing kidney stones, talk with your physician or health care provider about whether collagen supplements are appropriate for you. Cooper Complete Collagen Complex Supplement contains 5 grams of hypoallergenic protein from FORTIGEL®. This lower dose may help reduce the risk of excess oxalate production compared to higher-dose gelatin and collagen products.†

Q:

I noticed Collagen Complex can be added to food and beverages. Is the effectiveness of the product diminished by heat?

A:

No. Collagen Complex can be mixed into hot coffee or tea (it’s tasteless and gritless), and it can also be added to hot foods such as oatmeal. In fact, this supplement is even safe to incorporate into baked goods without diminishing its effectiveness.

Q:

Is collagen powder better absorbed if taken with food?

A:

It is not necessary to take collagen supplements with food.†
